Research Interests: Research interests have focused on the by-catch of marine mammals in fishing nets, specifically but not limited to the harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). In order to study the possible factors responsible for by-catch I researched natural history and behaviour of the harbour porpoise and possible mitigation regimes to reduce and or eliminate their incidental capture in fishing gear. Currently I am involved with marine species listed as being at risk under the Species at Risk Act (SARA) which was proclaimed in June 2003. |
